What can you do to make your organization an attractive employer for IT talent? With these five tips from CHRLY – the IT recruiter born out of Fujitsu with tons of experience in finding and retaining IT talent – you ensure that your company stands out and attracts the attention of interesting IT profiles. Then you can opt to outsource the actual search to an IT recruiter – there are at least five good reasons to do this.

1. Give candidates a reason to work for your organization

A nice salary with plenty of benefits? Of course, the financial aspect is important. But be aware that the competition may also have an interesting offer. That’s why you need to make a difference with other factors. For example, clearly explain the impact that someone can have by working for your organization.

Obviously, company culture is also essential. IT professionals search for employers who value innovation and collaboration. Be sure to highlight your positive and inclusive culture. For instance, through your social media channels that will certainly be visited by IT talents who consider a role in your organization.

During an interview, do not forget to mention the innovation projects waiting for the candidate. IT professionals are always looking for a challenge and prefer working with the latest technologies. Also explain that there is room for experimentation, even when something does not immediately lead to the desired results. Talented IT employees can provide new visions for your organization. Finally, convey passion as well. Show that you consider a candidate not only as a new colleague, but inspire them to realize great projects together.

2. Focus on personal development

Especially young generations are looking for a work environment where they can further develop their skills and knowledge. Therefore, do no just talk about the role you have in store for them, but also about the potential for growth. Offer trainings and certificates, and provide opportunities to attend workshops or conferences.

Focus on retention from the very first interview and emphasize that there are many opportunities within the company to build a rewarding career path. Since finding IT talent is very difficult, you want to keep them in your company as long as possible.

3. Make your recruitment process faster and more personal

Nothing is more important than a first impression. This is true for a candidate, but also for an employer. IT profiles usually have no shortage of offers. Therefore, make sure they do not have to wait too long for feedback.

Certain aspects of the recruitment process can be perfectly automatized, giving you more time to ask personal questions during the interview. Also provide room for the candidate to ask questions about your company.

4. Be present in the IT community

Do not wait for IT professionals to respond to a vacancy, but make sure that your organization is known in the IT community. For example, by being active on channels like Reddit. Build a network through conferences and exhibitions. Collaborate with schools and offer internship positions. You can also support projects, for instance in an open source community.

5. Involve your own IT team

Additionally, engage the network of your existing IT team. They can also promote your organization and give you an advantage with certain candidates. Listen to what your people find important. This offers you a double win, as you simultaneously work on the retention rate of your current staff.

Choose the right match

Did you follow each of these tips? Then you will definitely meet some interesting profiles. However, this doesn’t mean that you should hire any candidate. Make sure you choose the right profile. Critically evaluate your vacancy and do not make the description too general. Also think about the competences that may be important in the future.

As soon as you have a good idea of the profile your organization needs, you can do a much more focused search and also have a better chance of getting the right candidate respond to your job opening. And that could be the beginning of a long and successful collaboration.
