Job Overview

The Digital Workplace has moved front and centre to ensure organisational productivity and collaboration especially since the Covid pandemic in 2020.  Part of this is managing and ensuring secure hardware distribution, setup and management to a workforce working in a hybrid fashion. Architecture; both for tracking and translating industry trends to practical impacts for Workplace, as well as compiling architecture views for delivery projects; plays an important role in this overall domain.

In ING, this exciting and dynamic area is the responsibility of the Workplace Service team supported by domain and enterprise architects from the Enterprise Architecture organisation.

The team

Within People and Hubs Enterprise Architecture we are looking for a new Workplace Services Domain Architect for Windows and Apple endpoint management. The domain has 2 architects that look after Microsoft 365, workplace infrastructure and hosting overall and this role will be the third integral member of that team. The Workplace Services architects form part of a bigger Corporate Technology and Workplace Services architecture chapter of 10 architects overall. The team is based in Amsterdam and works to further develop ING’s global services.

Roles and responsibilities
As Workplace Services Domain Architect you:
  • Translate policies and/or requirements into solutions
  • Create high-level architecture designs highlighting options, recommendations and implications.
  • Create more detailed solution processes and approaches to guide implementation teams
  • Create reference architectures
  • Deliver architecture roadmaps
  • Compile quality architecture documentation and presentations to facilitate decision making
  • Organise and support workshops and presentations for decision making
  • Contribute or construct to the creation of global standards
  • Manage stakeholders across multiple departments in various countries
  • Build a  strong collaborative  relationship with the Workplace Services product owners and engineers
  • Become the go-to person for Apple and Windows endpoint management architecture
  • Are up to date with the latest technologies and trends with translation into implications for the organisation
  • Work independent under limited guidance with a strong drive to collaborate with other stakeholders
  • Participate and/or present in architecture governance forums as required
  • Manage your own features in the architecture team backlog ensuring completeness of descriptions, updates and committed start and end dates aligned with the Workplace Service team
  • Actively participate in broader quarterly planning and commitment sessions with the Workplace Services team

  • You have at least 5 years of experience as an architect
  • Worked in Workplace Services domain looking after:
    • Cloud managed workplaces services (incl. virtual CMW) and endpoint management for both Windows and Mac devices.
    • Printing and scanning solutions on organisational level. 
    • Packaging and distribution of applications.
    • An understanding of the related infrastructure and security architecture aspects.
  • Have experience in highly regulated environments (e.g., financial institutions)
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical topics to various audiences.
  • Ability to develop strong and collaborative partnerships with organizational leaders.
  • You improve yourself constantly; and you challenge, improve and train others continuously.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field/ equivalent work experience.

Knowledge of and experience with IT architecture methodologies, processes (e.g. TOGAF), service management processes and an agile work environment
